Hunter earned his law degree from the Alexander Blewitt III School of Law at the University of Montana, where he served as a staff member for Montana Law Review, in addition to serving as an officer for both the Montana Law Fly Fishing Club and the Freedom of the Press Club. While in law school, Hunter worked for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Federal Bankruptcy Court in the State of Montana.

Prior to attending law school, Hunter graduated from Brigham Young University with Honors, graduating with a degree in Geospatial Intelligence.

Hunter was raised in Kamas, Utah. Hunter enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending time with his wife, Danielle, and new daughter.
