COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Effect on Child Custody Orders

Many parents are concerned about the effect COVID-19 (the “Coronavirus”) is having on the enforcement of child custody orders and custody decrees.  It is important to understand every case is different and the main focus of the court remains the best interests of the child.  Regarding various opinions on the impact the Corona Virus could have on existing custody orders, the Idaho Supreme Court has declared court orders are not affected by the virus unless otherwise modified by the courts.  Certain exceptions may apply depending on specific circumstances.
